Basic Info

Bamboos are a group of woody perennial evergreen plants in the true grass family Poaceae. Bamboo grows rapidly in segments with hollow cavities.

Bamboo can be cut down with an axe or a blade for Bamboo logs, Long Bamboo Sticks, and Bamboo Sticks. Similar to normal wood sticks and logs, bamboo sticks and logs can be stored on bamboo stick stands and bamboo log stands. However, unlike wood, bamboo logs cannot be cut or harvested to yield long bamboo sticks. Bamboo may be used in some recipes as an alternate to wood in building and crafting.

A large bamboo stem will yield three bamboo logs. A cluster of bamboo stems will yield four long bamboo sticks and 2 bamboo sticks when cut with an axe. when cut with a knife it will yield 5 long bamboo sticks

Crafting

Bamboo can be used as an alternate for wood used in the water collector, water filter, beds, shelters, frames, walls, balconies, and other blueprint constructions. The Bamboo Dryer and Bamboo Smoker are unique bamboo alternatives to the original Dryer and Smoker structures, requiring different relative material amounts and space.

There are several bamboo tool alternatives including the Bamboo Bow and the Bamboo Spear. The bamboo bow is popular due to it being the lightest option for bows.

Bamboo is a crucial component in the creation of Water Filters, the Bamboo Blowpipe, and the Pottery Table. If the player wishes to work on Pottery or attempt Animal Husbandry, they must find a source of bamboo.

Alternate Source of Bamboo

In the Spirits of Amazonia Game Mode, bamboo constructions are encountered in specific locations, as a bamboo frame and walls forming a cage. Destroying the constructions will drop some of the ropes, long bamboo sticks, and bamboo logs used to build them. In some cases it can be faster and more convenient to find and destroy these constructions for a source of bamboo.
