Basic Info[]
Fever is a condition in which the body maintains a temperature above the normal range. Having a fever reduces the player's sanity levels and will rapidly increase the rate of dehydration. It will also cause player energy levels to drop unusually quickly, increasing the risk that the player will pass out if unable to sleep for an extended period or treat it and restore energy. Due the fact that fever drains both hydration and energy rather quickly this condition should be taken very seriously. It can be an insidious killer.
Careful attention should be paid to your health and macro element levels when sleeping as long as a fever persists.
When the player is afflicted with a fever, the icon will be displayed by the health meter. The number next to it indicates the level of fever (i.e., how many times the fever icon circle must drain before the fever is gone).
Causes[]
Fever is usually a secondary issue caused when the player contracts another ailment such as a venom wound, infection or food poisoning. It can also be caused by walking or swimming through poisoned water.
Treatment[]
Fever is naturally fought off by the body over time, however, the recovery time can be significantly shortened by sleeping or entirely cured by consuming the following:
