The South American Rattlesnake is a venomous pit viper species found in South America.
The player will hear the distinctive rattle when near the rattlesnake. If the player gets too close the snake will bite and cause a Venom Wound and Fever. Trivia[]
The model used in game is actually that of a western diamond back rattlesnake, which is not native to the Amazons. The western diamond back rattlesnake is recognizable by the raccoon like black and white stripes at the base of the tail, just before the rattle. Differentiating it from the eastern diamond back that looks similar, but lacks the raccoon tail and is typically a bit larger and darker in color. A real south American rattlesnake has very dark diamond patterns and no raccoon tail but instead opts for a dark tail base.
