The Stone Spear is a tool and melee weapon which was added in update V.0.1 to Green Hell.

Basic Info

The Stone Spear can be used to hunt for animals or defend from aggressive Natives or animals.

The different spears feature different attack reach in Green Hell. Amongst the early spear types (Weak Spear, Stone Spear, Bone Spear and Obsidian Spear), the Stone Spear has the longest reach, closely followed by the Bone Spear, making it a useful weapon and tool despite the lower damage stats.

For example, with the Stone Spear one can safely attack a South American Rattlesnake or Brazilian Wandering Spider without being attacked oneself, which is very challenging utilizing the Obsidian Spear. Fending off an aggressive Jaguar without being attacked oneself tends to be easier with the Stone Spear for the same reason.

When used as a hunting tool, the Stone Spear makes impaling fish, Red Crabs, Cane Toads and other wildlife significantly easier due to the longer reach.
